I ve been a social worker for than 15 years and after many years on the frontline, I now play a bigger role in the training and support of others As such, I need to make sure what I m telling them is absolutely correct all of the time Moreover, I am frequently called upon by students, practice educators, practitioners and managers to give my opinion on a whole variety of cases One of the problems with that is legal books become obsolete so quickly and it can take an age to sift through the chaff on the internet I have found this book to be really helpful as a quick reference guide the index is particularly good with all areas of social care law touched upon There are plenty of case examples too which are helpful to illustrate a point, but the level of detail is sometimes a bit light Consequently, I d recommend this book, but will need to be used in connection with practice guidance books to get a full picture At a shade under 26 it s good value, although in the light of new legislation such as Liberty Protection Safeguards I would hope a 2nd edition will come along.
