Great book, the production is quality, photos are sharp and big enough to give a sense of feeling The book covers some interesting incidents and subjects, some never before mentioned but without giving away tactics that could endanger these courageous men and women whom we rely on to do the job This book is written in a style easy to understand and brings the reader right up to date with events This is an ideal purchase for anyone interested or studying armed policing or violent offenders giving an incite into how the gangs work and what the police are doing to stop them It follows on nicely from Stephen Smiths first book Stop Armed Police I would highly recommend this book. Well written and researched book from someone who has been there seen it and done it However, there is no arrogance or patronising manner especially as it takes a special sort of person who runs towards danger as everyone else is backing away Stephen takes you through the events and then places his views from the perspective of a highly experienced and trained firearms officer This was every bit as good as the first book I genuinely hope there will be ideas on a third book, perhaps on other units in the UK or abroad perhaps. The later part of the book is good as based on actual cases, but mist of this book reads as a training procedural on techniques and police procedures Did get a tad boring at times This is a cracking book written by a top operator.Steve has produced a brilliantly readable book that is both a history and a reference guide to dozens of police firearms operations Beautifully presented with some never before seen photographs 100% recommended. Very happy with this book, I read the authors first book years ago and heard a second was being written Lots of first hand accounts and loads of colour photos Some thinks I d never heard before A must read for anyone with an interest in Policing. Great book, very detailed with a lot of knowledge The real inside story of the Met s armed officers This is really well written with excellent photographs to accompany the text.Very highly recommended. Come on a journey with veteran firearms officer, Stephen Smith as he goes behind the scenes of the Met s Specialist Firearms Unit, SCO This book covers events from the controversial shooting of Azelle Rodney inand Mark Duggan in , right up to the outrageous terrorists attacks on Westminster, London Bridge and Borough Market Stephen Smith, through his unique access to SCO, has managed to put together hundreds of detailed photographs along with text that goes a long way to explain why it is necessary to have such an elite firearms unit on standby in London This comprehensive volume will bring you right up to date with the training, operations, equipment and mind set of these courageous individuals who put their lives on the line on a daily basis to keep the capital safe London s Armed Police is a must have for anyone with an interest in modern policing or police firearms matters
