    My Dark Divas Review of this title A mishandled secret drives Promise Me by Vanessa deHart, a passionate love story between two achievers who are stopped in their tracks and spun around backwards by love at first sight.Whether you enjoy their romance depends on how you feel about the heroine s secret Your cultural background and personal ethics might allow you to understand and accept her rationale and ride the lovers emotional rollercoaster with your heart in your throat but I could not.T My Dark Divas Review of this title A mishandled secret drives Promise Me by Vanessa deHart, a passionate love story between two achievers who are stopped in their tracks and spun around backwards by love at first sight.Whether you enjoy their romance depends on how you feel about the heroine s secret Your cultural background and personal ethics might allow you to understand and accept her rationale and ride the lovers emotional rollercoaster with your heart in your throat but I could not.To me, the heroine s problem was simple and straightforward, and the people who loved her a huge, supportive network of friends, family, co workers, customers, and backers would happily help her resolve it Therefore, I kept wondering, Where s the issue The issue was her keeping the secret, which forced her to lie to everyone, which created or complicated other problems, which made her take unnecessary risks and jeopardize her relationships as well as her life and in just about all ways to generate unnecessary trouble Of course, had she just faced up to her problem, there would be no book.Aside from this, the story rolled smoothly from sentence to paragraph to chapter in a professionally presented book The aviation elements added interest and intrigue Emotion was kept at a high pitch throughout, and the thunderbolt attraction between hero and heroine was credibly presented and sustained, so that each of their moments together throbbed with heat The promise theme of the title wove subtly through the story and tied plot threads together The hero s and heroine s disparate lives converged realistically, and their mis interpretations of each other made sense from each s viewpoint as the story switched back and forth between them.The big secret overwhelmed the real story, of how two psychically wounded control freaks from opposite backgrounds and lifestyles learned to understand themselves and each other, and worked to overcome their fears, obsessions, and wounds in order to become a whole greater than the sum of its parts so they could fly off into the sunset together.The author chose to take them there by way of the big secret and its messy by products I would have preferred a different vehicle, or elsetime spent developing the heroine s motivation for keeping the secret The motivation was indeed there the author didn t neglect it but it didn t persuade me that the heroine needed to guard her secretfiercely than she did anything else So although I can recommend this book generally to people who love romance, I think it needs stronger character development in order to capturereaders hearts.Rated 3 Delightful Divas by Aurora
